Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Sentinz. We have tried to write them so that you can actually read them.

Who we are

Sentinz is a trade name of Amstel Serene Real Estate B.V., registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 93294441, at Zilverschoonlaan 4, 1187 EC Amstelveen, the Netherlands. In these terms, “we” and “us” means that company. You can reach us at info@sentinz.com.

By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms. How we handle your personal data is described separately in our Privacy Policy.

What Sentinz is

Sentinz is an app for learning Dutch vocabulary. It schedules reviews of the words you study, listens when you use a word in a sentence and gives you feedback, lets you practise spoken conversations, and offers practice versions of the Dutch integration exams.

Sentinz is a learning tool. It is not affiliated with DUO, the IND or any other government body, and practice results in the app are not official exam results.

Your account

Subscriptions and the free trial

Sentinz is offered as a paid subscription, with the plans, prices and billing periods shown in the app before you buy.

Plans that include the spoken assistant are meant for normal personal use. We may apply a reasonable limit on assistant time to prevent abuse; if we do, the app will tell you.

Feedback written by AI

Parts of Sentinz use AI models to judge your sentences, to create cards for new words, to read words from photographs and to hold conversations with you. AI can be wrong. A correction may be mistaken, a translation may be off, and an exam score in the app is an estimate, not a prediction of your real result.

Use the feedback as help with learning, not as authority. We cannot guarantee that using Sentinz will get you through any exam. If you see an answer that is wrong or inappropriate, please report it from the app (Settings → Feedback) or by email; we read every report.

What you may not do

Your content

What you write and say in Sentinz stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it only as far as needed to run the app for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not use it to train AI models.

Our content, and your licence to use it

The app, its word lists, sentences, audio, exercises and design belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Sentinz on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by Apple’s Usage Rules, for your own non-commercial learning, for as long as you have an account.

Changes to the app

We keep improving Sentinz, which means features will change, and occasionally one will be removed. We will not take away something essential that you have paid for during a period you have paid for. The app needs an internet connection for most features, and we cannot promise it will always be available without interruption.

Ending the agreement

You can stop at any time by deleting your account in the app (Settings → Delete account). Remember to cancel your subscription with Apple as well; deleting your account does not do that for you.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Where we can, we will warn you first and give you the chance to put it right.

Our liability

We provide Sentinz with care, but to the extent the law allows, it is provided as it is. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as a missed exam, a missed deadline or lost income. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Sentinz in the twelve months before the claim arose.

None of this limits liability for damage caused by our intent or gross negligence, or any right you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by contract.

Apple

If you downloaded Sentinz from the App Store, the following also applies:

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Dutch law. If something goes wrong, please write to us first; most problems are solved faster that way. Disputes go to the competent court in Amsterdam.

If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country, and you may also bring a claim in the courts where you live.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms we will update the date at the top. For a change that materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account.
