Common questions

The app says my sentence is wrong, but I think it is right

Tell us the word and exactly what you said. The check is deliberately strict — it asks whether a Dutch speaker would call the sentence correct, not whether your meaning came across — but it is not infallible, and we use reported cases to improve it.

It did not hear me properly

Speak close to the phone in a quiet place. What was heard is shown on screen before it is checked, and you can correct it before submitting. If it is consistently wrong for you, let us know which words fail.

Why does it ask for my microphone?

Because proving you can use a word means saying it out loud. Recording happens only while you are actively answering, never in the background. See our Privacy Policy.

Why does it ask for my camera or photos?

So you can photograph a letter, a sign or a menu and turn the Dutch words in it into cards. The photograph is processed and then discarded — it is never stored.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Delete account, or see Deleting your data.

Where is my data kept?

Your account, your words, your voice and your conversations are kept and processed inside the European Union. Only the app’s update check and this website reach outside it, and they carry none of that. The details are in our Privacy Policy.

Is Sentinz accessible?

We want everyone to be able to learn with Sentinz. Sentinz is made by a small company, so the European Accessibility Act does not apply to us yet, but we follow it where we can. If something in the app or on this site is hard to use with your setup, such as VoiceOver or larger text, write to info@sentinz.com and we will look at it.
